Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adult advisors. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities, fundraisers and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community. The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures. Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president.
Any student in 3rd through 6th grade that is interested in leadership, promoting school spirit, event planning or becoming more involved in the school are welcome to apply. Student council members are expected to attend monthly meetings after school, have good character, keep current with school work, and be role models for their peers inside and outside of school.
Reading Club is a chance for students to enhance their reading skills. We will be using a variety of reading resources to help students reach their goals.
We focus on oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These six aspects work together to create the reading experience. As children learn to read they must develop skills in all of these areas in order to become successful readers. Our students will be provided with activities that will build their reading skills and confidence. Mrs. Bragelman and Mrs. Vargas can’t wait to help you become the best readers you can be! Readers are Leaders!!!
