The school year has been underway for just over one month now! Students and staff at Burk Elementary have been busy learning, growing, and building community. From the successful Curriculum Night to the kickoff of the 5th Grade Strings program, the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year is off to a great start! Here's a breakdown of everything that's happened so far.

The first month was filled with opportunities to connect with the community. A successful back-to-school pool party in late July brought families together before the first day of school. This was followed by the annual Curriculum Night, where families learned about the year's expectations. The first student council (STUCO) meeting was also held, and the school celebrated its first School Picture Day.

Learning is in full swing for both students and staff. Our dedicated teachers participated in a professional development day focused on iReady, gaining tools to better support students every day. In the classrooms, students are actively engaged in hands-on learning, with kindergarteners practicing skywriting their letters and the 5th Grade Strings group already making great music. Teachers are also providing personalized support to students through small group instruction, a key part of our commitment to helping every student shine.

Students and staff are also showing off their school spirit, proudly wearing their Burk shirts or colors every Friday. A big thank you to the PTSO, which has been hard at work making spirit wear available for purchase. The PTSO has also organized the popular weekly Otter Pop sales every Friday!
