Working at Burk is truly a joy. I love the students, the staff, and all the wonderful activities here for our children. My wish for my students is that they become independent, motivated learners. I promise to do my best to help them. Burk is a family and I'm glad to be a part of it.
I began teaching at Burk as a long-term substitute 17 years ago. Then I taught the rest of the year at Playa del Rey before transferring to Neely Traditional Academy where I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade for 14 years. Along the way, I took a side trip to the district science center and taught GPS teachers their science kits. After certifying one of my great danes to be a therapy dog, I decided I wanted to teach special education along side my furry buddy. I taught with Hamlet at Spectrum and Highland Park for one year before moving to Burk and I've been teaching here the last two years. Soon, I hope to bring my new therapy dog, Bailey, to the classroom to complete the cycle here at Burk.
